The Lore of Zombie Turtle Island

Zombie Turtle Island

Long ago, a being, powerful enough to be considered a god, wandered by a string of fate to an empty void. The void was formless. It was neither water nor air. It had no name and it had no purpose. The god was called Eltrut. When Eltrut saw the formless void, he felt compassion towards it, and decided to name it Turtes. Upon receiving its name, the void felt life entering its core. The water and the sky began to form with boundaries set between them and an enormous creature emerged from the water. This creature resembled a giant sea turtle. The once formless void has now become three entities: the water, the sky and the giant sea turtle. The spirit of Turtes took refuge in the giant sea turtle. Turtes and the Eltrut were inseparable, as if they were lovers. This unnatural love gave birth to two kin. One was named Ambition and the other was named Nature. Ambition took on the form of a very handsome man, while Nature took the form of a humbling seed. Every few millennia, Eltrut enters a deep sleep to replenish his divinity. No one knows when his slumber will end. Before departing, he wanted his kin to make their own choices about what they wish to pursue. Ambition decided to explore the dark voids, which were all formless spaces, in hopes that he too may find his own Turtes. Nature decided that she would set her roots on the shell of her mother, Turtes.

After one long millennium, Turtes was no longer just an ordinary giant sea turtle. Nature began sprouting roots and her roots extended to the deepest core of her mother. Her attachment to her mother and the fruits of her growth led to another phenomenon. A land flowing with life, vegetation, and freedom was born. This land was known as Lenape, which meant, the Island on the Turtle. The Island was home to some of the strangest yet exotic creatures. Some were two legged and some had too many legs. Some can speak the same tongue and some cannot speak at all. Some were humans. Some looked like foxes, wolves, rabbits, lizards, birds, fish, cats, and some have not been discovered yet. On Lenape, all races co-existed in harmony. Mother Nature played a key role in keeping the peace.

While Nature was building her world, Ambition was traversing the dark void. Eventually, Ambition returned to Turtes, empty-handed and feeling extremely defeated. When he saw what his sister had accomplished, he became envious, and this led his heart towards destruction. During his years of wandering in the dark void, he acquired many skills. One of his greatest skills was deception. He connivingly came up with a plan to plant “ambitions” into the heart of the natives living on Turtle Island. Some were opposed to the changes, but some were easily swayed. For the natives’ hearts were fragile and easily manipulated.

The natives began to turn away from Nature and started relying on machineries and mass production of things that they did not really need. Surely, it made work easier for them, but little did they know, they were slowly destroying Lenape. Factions began to form out of the economical disputes and differences. War broke out between the differing views. No one knew or caught on that in the end Ambition would be the only one to benefit from all of this. Some were content with the simple but harmonious life that they had with Nature. Others sought more and so they took hold of Ambition’s hand. Those who did so, discovered ways to increase their firepower, by enhancing their forms mechanically. Which brought forth a completely new race known as, the Mechanical Natives.

More centuries flew by and the light in Turtes’s eyes began to fade. Turtes, along with the world of Lenape, was dying, despite how hard the giant sea turtle fought for its survival. Turtes could not bear the differences and hatred that her kin harbored towards each other. Alas, the giant turtle took its last breath, and the death of Turtes and Lenape took the natives by surprise. For all were too focused on their own ambitions. With Turtes dead, Nature could no longer sustain life without a core to plant her roots.

With Nature fully out of the picture, Ambition could finally spread his roots. After Ambition had completed planting his roots, Turtes came back to life, but she was not the same. With chemical pollutions caused by factories and machineries during the war, the island that was once bountiful and flourishing with life, vegetation, and freedom have now become a Zombie Turtle Island. The dead from the war emerged from their graves and the once gentle animals and insects mutated into ravenous creatures that devoured everything in sight. When the natives of the island realized what had happened, they put aside their differences and tried to rebuild the peace they once had when Nature was around. A fortress was built for the sake of survival for the last and remaining natives.

When Eltrut finally awoke from his slumber, he was disheartened to discover what has become of his beloved Turtes and his kin. He informed the natives that there was still a chance to revive Turtes and Lenape to its former glory, but it must be done by the work of the very people who destroyed the island itself. Eltrut told the natives to revive the once bountiful island, cleaning out all of the pollution, plastics, and trash in the water and on the island. As for their undead brethren, the only way to put them to rest is to kill them and offer their bones to the heart of the island where their soul would rest within the giant sea turtle. This would restore Turtes’ core back to its former days.

As for Ambition, Eltrut does not want to directly harm his own kin so he left it up to the natives to deal with him. He gave his blessings to those who stood at the forefront. His blessings instilled unique abilities to the natives. This gave them a fighting chance against the powerful being, Ambition. Those who survived must fight their undead brethren and prevent Ambition from furthering his reign.
